How to set up Stripe Connect for payouts

Required if you want to sell paid events or paid products. Free products skip this step.

Stripe Connect is how money flows from your buyers into your bank account. Free events and free products don't need it β€” anything paid does.

Steps

  1. Owner Portal β†’ Payouts tab
  2. Click Set Up Payouts
  3. You're redirected to Stripe Express onboarding
  4. Enter business type, ABN (if applicable), personal details, bank account, phone
  5. Stripe verifies your identity (usually instant; can take 1–2 days for some accounts)
  6. Status flips to Active in your Payouts tab β€” now you can publish paid events and products

What to have handy

  • ABN if you operate as a business
  • Bank statement or BSB + account number for the receiving account
  • Government photo ID for identity verification
  • Phone for SMS verification

Privacy: Identity verification is mandated by Australian financial regulations (AML/CTF). Stripe holds the data β€” MyNextGym never sees your bank details, ABN, or ID.

Common questions

How long until my first payout?

Stripe's default schedule is 7-day rolling. You can speed this up in Stripe Express settings once your account is Active.

Can I change my bank account later?

Yes β€” at any time, from Stripe Express. Click View Payouts Dashboard in the Payouts tab to open Stripe Express, then update bank details there.

What if Stripe asks for more verification?

It happens occasionally for higher-risk categories. Stripe will email you with what's needed β€” usually a clearer photo of your ID or a recent utility bill.
